Terms of Use
The agreement between you and Arcoco Ltd when you use the arcoco app.
These terms apply when you download, install or use arcoco, the vocabulary-building app operated by Arcoco Ltd ("arcoco", "we", "us"), on iPhone or Android (the "app"). By using the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
On the App Store, Apple's standard licence terms also apply to the copy of the app you download from Apple. On Google Play, Google's terms apply to the store transaction. Where those store terms and these terms both apply, these terms govern your use of the app itself.
1. Who we are
arcoco is operated by Arcoco Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 10951526), based in the United Kingdom. For questions about these terms, contact support@arcocoapp.com.
2. Your licence to use the app
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial learning. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, rent, reverse-engineer or decompile the app, or extract its word catalogue, images or audio for use outside the app, except where the law allows this despite these terms.
3. Using arcoco
arcoco is a practice tool. It suggests words and explanations to help you communicate more clearly; it is not a substitute for professional language teaching, and we do not promise any particular learning outcome. You are responsible for how you use the words you practise.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the app. If you are under 18, you must have your parent's or guardian's permission.
You agree not to use the app in a way that is unlawful, that interferes with the app or other users, or that attempts to gain unauthorised access to our systems or those of our service providers.
4. Free use and arcoco Plus
You can play a limited number of games each day for free. arcoco Plus is an optional paid upgrade that unlocks unlimited games and automatic streak protection. It is sold as an auto-renewing monthly or yearly subscription and, where offered, as a one-time Lifetime purchase.
- Payment. Purchases are made through Apple's in-app purchase system on iPhone or Google Play Billing on Android, and are subject to that store's terms and refund rules. We do not receive your full payment card details.
- Renewal and cancellation. Subscriptions renew automatically at the price shown when you bought them unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Cancel or manage a subscription in your Apple or Google account settings; deleting the app does not cancel it.
- Trials and introductory prices. Where a free trial or introductory price is offered, the terms shown at the time of purchase apply. A trial converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled before it ends.
- Lifetime. A Lifetime purchase does not renew and does not automatically cancel an existing subscription; manage that subscription separately through your store account.
- Restore. Use Restore Purchases in the app, with the same store account used for the purchase, to restore arcoco Plus on a new device.
- Refunds. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer.
Where a feature is described in the app as not yet available on your platform, it is not part of what you are buying on that platform.
5. Your progress
Your practice progress is stored on your device. Where the app offers optional progress saving through Apple or Google sign-in, you can choose to save progress to our servers so it can be restored on another device. We take reasonable care of saved progress but do not guarantee it will never be lost; keep the app updated and use progress saving where it is offered if your progress matters to you.
6. Our content
The app, its word catalogue, explanations, illustrations, sounds, characters, design and code are owned by Arcoco Ltd or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Nothing in these terms transfers any of those rights to you.
7. Changes to the app
We may update, change or withdraw features of the app, including the word catalogue, game modes and pricing of future purchases, at any time. If a change materially reduces what an active subscription provides, you may cancel and any refund will be handled under the relevant store's policy.
8. Availability
We aim to keep the app working but do not promise that it will always be available or free of errors. The app depends on your device, its operating system and, for some features, third-party services such as Apple, Google, RevenueCat and Firebase.
9. Our responsibility to you
If we fail to comply with these terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach or our failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that is not foreseeable, for business losses, or for loss caused by events outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited by law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.
10. Ending the agreement
You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or end your access to the app if you seriously breach these terms. Ending the agreement does not affect any purchase already made through Apple or Google, which continues to be governed by that store's terms.
11. Privacy
How we handle your information is explained in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, tell you in the app before they take effect. If you keep using the app after a change takes effect, the updated terms apply.
13. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also rely on the mandatory consumer laws of your country, and you may bring proceedings in the courts there. Otherwise, the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, and this does not affect your rights under the law of the country you live in.
